  • From Valletta: routes 81 and 85
  • From the airport: change at Paola
  • Check times on the Malta Public Transport app before you set off

By car and parking

Follow signs for Marsaxlokk from Żejtun. The public car park at the east end of the quay is free but fills by 10:00 on Sundays.

  • Drop-off is allowed outside the restaurant for a few minutes
  • Blue bays near the church for disabled badge holders
  • Taxi and ride-hail pick-up by the bus terminus

On a Sunday

The quay closes to cars from early morning for the market. Come by bus, or park higher up in the village and walk down.

Sunday market tips

The Sunday market runs the length of the quay. Here's how the morning goes, from people who've worked it for sixty years.

  1. Stalls open. Come early for the best of the fish; by eleven the crowds are three deep.
  2. Our board goes up. Peek in and see what Ġorġ bought before you shop.
  3. The tourist coaches arrive. Good time for a coffee on our terrace.
  4. Sunday market lunch begins. Leave your shopping with us in the cold room.
  5. Fishmongers start dropping prices on what's left. Bargains for dinner.

Questions we get a lot

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes, when there's room. On weekdays at lunch there usually is. Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch are almost always fully booked, so book ahead.

Can you cater for allergies and coeliacs?

Yes. Most fish and grill dishes are naturally gluten-free and we keep a separate fryer for gluten-free calamari. Tell us in your booking notes and your server will go through the menu with you.

Is there anything for people who don't eat fish?

A few things: grilled Maltese sausage, a local ribeye, ricotta ravioli and plenty of vegetable dishes. The menu page has a filter for vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Are children and dogs welcome?

Children are very welcome; we have highchairs and a half-portion pasta menu. Dogs are welcome on the terrace, with a bowl of water on the house.

Is the restaurant accessible?

The terrace and the ground-floor dining room are step-free, as is our accessible toilet. Il-Loft upstairs can only be reached by stairs.

Can I buy fish to take home?

We don't sell raw fish; the stalls across the road do it better. We will cook any whole fish you buy at the Sunday market for a €12 cooking charge, if you book.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancel for free up to two hours before. For groups of 11 or more we take a deposit; see the private dining page.
