How much does a website cost in Malta?

A small-business website in Malta typically costs €1,000–€2,500 with a studio; online shops and custom systems start from about €4,500. On top of that, budget for a domain, hosting and, ideally, a care plan from €25 a month.

This guide is written for small business owners in Malta and Gozo who want a straight answer: what you’re actually paying for, what pushes the price up, what it costs to keep a website running, and how to avoid paying twice. The prices are our own fixed prices at Gaffiero Digital, so you can see exactly where they come from.

What does a website cost in Malta in 2026?

The price depends mostly on what the website needs to do. A site that explains your services and brings in calls costs less than one that takes bookings, and a shop that takes payments costs more again. Here is how our own packages are priced:

What drives the cost of a website?

Two websites can look similar and cost very different amounts. These are the things that move the price:

  • Number of pages and how much content needs writing. Ten service pages take longer to plan, write and design than four.
  • Features such as online booking, a price estimator, payments, a shop or a client portal. Each one has to be designed, built and tested.
  • Design: a custom design takes more work than a template, and stands out more in a small market where competitors often use the same themes.
  • Content: whether you supply the text and photos, or need help writing and creating them.
  • Languages: an English site is the baseline. Adding Maltese or Italian versions means translating and maintaining every page.
  • Integrations with tools you already use, like your calendar, email, booking or accounting software.

If budget is tight, start with fewer pages and one feature that brings in business, such as a quote form or table booking, then add more once it’s paying for itself.

What does a website cost to run after launch?

Every website has some running costs. They are smaller than the build, but they are worth knowing before you compare quotes.

  • Domain name: a small yearly fee to keep your address, such as yourbusiness.com or yourbusiness.com.mt. Make sure it is registered in your name.
  • Hosting: the server your website runs on. Fast, secure hosting matters for Google and for visitors on mobile data.
  • Maintenance: security and software updates, backups, small changes and ongoing optimisation so Google and AI search tools like ChatGPT keep finding you. Our optional care plans cover this: Basic at €25 a month, Standard at €50 a month with up to an hour of changes, and Priority at €90 a month with up to three hours.
  • Optional extras such as an AI website assistant that answers customers and takes bookings around the clock (€80 a month with us).

A note on VAT. Malta’s standard VAT rate is 18%, and some suppliers quote without it. Always ask whether a price includes VAT before you compare quotes side by side. All the Gaffiero Digital prices in this guide include VAT.

DIY builder, freelancer or studio: which is right for you?

Three ways to get a business website

Your timeA lot: you build itSomeLeast
DesignTemplateDepends on the personCustom
Set up for GoogleUp to youSometimesShould be included
Support after launchHelp articlesVariesSomeone accountable

DIY website builders have a low monthly cost, but you pay with your own time, and the result often looks like a template. Freelancers can be affordable, but quality and support vary a lot. A studio costs more up front, but you should get a custom design, a proper setup for Google, and someone accountable after launch.

Watch out for very cheap websites. Ask who owns the website and domain, whether it’s set up for Google, what happens if something breaks, and what you’ll pay each year. A cheap site that brings in no clients often ends up costing more.

How long does it take to build a website?

  • Starter website: typically 2–3 weeks.
  • Business website: typically 4–6 weeks.
  • Online shop or custom system: typically 6–10 weeks.

The clock starts once we have your content. The biggest delays are usually waiting for text and photos, and long gaps between rounds of feedback, so having those ready is the easiest way to launch sooner. You see and approve the design before anything is built.

How do you get a fixed price for a website?

  1. Start with our free website check to see where your current website stands on speed, mobile and Google visibility.
  2. Book a free 20-minute call, where we learn about your business and what the website needs to do.
  3. Get a written proposal with one fixed price and a timeline, agreed before any work starts. No obligation.

If you’re comparing options for a specific industry, our pages for restaurants, trades, salons, estate agents, gyms and shops show what we’d build and which package fits.
